Four Winds

Four Winds in the Newtownbreda area forms part of Greater Belfast and is an electoral ward of the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council.

It is an upcoming residential area, with many new developments in the surrounding area being built in recent years, including Orchard Grove.

The Forestside Shopping Centre was opened in 1997 and is an asset to the area. It provides chemists, phone shops, cafes, high street clothing brands, and jewellers to name but a few. Since its opening, Forestside has underwent significant changes and is now at full capacity. In 2006, Marks & Spencer invested £8 million on remodelling and expanding their Forestside store, and building a multi-storey car park.

Further to Forestside it has had its very own Tesco Extra since 2007. Newtownbreda Tesco opens for 24-hours 4 days during the week, and provides a vast grocery selection amongst other services such as a clothing collection, a phone shop, travel money exchange and a petrol station.

Education

There is no shortage of local schools, both primary and secondary to the residents of Four Winds. Nearby, there are some of Northern Ireland's leading primary, grammar and secondary schools.

Four Winds has clear transport links to Belfast city centre, as well as the outskirts of the city, so travelling to and from work or school is made hassle-free. This is made even easier by the efficient public transport service that is in operation for the residents of the Newtownbreda area.

The surrounding area boasts a number of independent, family-run restaurants/bars and cafes which provide for the locals and wider public. Some of these restaurants/bars and cafes including Eight South Bar/Restaurant, The Everest, Indian, Beechill Inn, The Atlantic, Khyber Tandoori/Restaurant, Fillerz Cafe, Maple Cafe [Woodlawn Garden & Lifestyle].

The recently refurbished Ivanhoe Hotel has been affiliated with the area since the 19th century. The hotel has consciously been through major renovations in recent years, transforming the hotel into a modern, comfortable hotel.
